The Art of Letting Go

      It’s all over…

Memories of someone we love seem very hard to let go. Even how good or bad it is, still the feelings remain the same. Grief and sorrow succumb all over us. It radiates on our persona.  So how can we avoid those feelings? Why do we need to suffer and cry when someone else’ bids goodbye?

In a relationships there are always questions left unanswered, words left unspoken, letters left unread, love left unexpressed and promises left unfulfilled. We should know those things. We enter this kind of arena so we should expect it will not end the way we desire. As they say, you may gain some and you may loss some. Now, if we lost at least we tried. It’s not a matter of winning but a matter of fighting.

We know that letting go of someone we love is always the hardest things to do. But never the less we must move on because the harder the effort of holding on, the painful it becomes.

At the end of any relationship, we are embraced to find ourselves alone. Although unfair it may seem, but that’s the way love goes. That the how and the why we enter this arena of love.

We never knew what it might bring.

In letting go, sorrow not comes as a single spy but as a battalion. It seems that everywhere you go, everything you do, every song you hear, every turn of your head, every move of your body, every beat of your heart, every blink of your eye and every breath you take always remind you of that person. It’s like a stab of a knife, a torture in the night.

It’s funny how that whole world depopulated when only one person is missing. Just imagine there are billions of people on Earth and yet you feel lonely and empty without the other.

            It’s over. All over!

That person is gone. But life has to go on. Goodbye doesn’t always mean forever. There will come a place and time where questions will finally be answered, words will be expressed, letters will be read, poems will be recited in the night, song will be sung in harmony, love will be expressed in solitude and promise will be fulfilled.

            Just believe in it…

            Soon we’ll find it…

why do i love teaching?

I would say that teaching is not a job well-suited for everyone.  It needs a special calling within even it’s a bit late. In fact, many of our teachers can’t survive the challenge and leaved teaching. Though it seems that rewards has been hidden by tribulations still it will emerge.

Here are the reasons why I love teaching and how it became a great profession.

·         I love getting up on stage and performing.  My students become an instant audience.
·         I love sharing ideas, experiences and expertise.
·         I love to help polished their abilities and achieve their best.
·         I love to listen to ideas and like to see how their mind works on a certain problem.
·         I love the instant feedback I get from my students about my performance. Their appreciation is enough to know that they learned from it.
·         I love learning and love the interaction between students and co-teacher.
·         I enjoy sharing my love of learning and my passion of teaching.
·         I love to be with my co-worker.
·         I sincerely believe that teaching is what I was born to do and God give me this talent to help others.

i love be a teacher

I most certainly go into teaching again if I had to do it all over again.

Back when I was a child, I never dream of becoming an educator, for the reason that, my father is already a teacher and some of my siblings. I just thought that some of my family members are enough contribution to education and I just don’t want to include myself on it anymore.  Secondly, at a young age, it planted in my mind the tedious work of a teacher. I always saw them reading their lessons, making lesson plan, recording student’s achievement and the likes. It’s like working in school but it’s still not enough thus, needed to bring paperworks at home. I certainly hate them seeing doing those things.

But looking in their eyes, I haven’t seen any regrets. What I saw is contentment and peace of mind on the job they've chosen. Imparting, embracing and inspiring others lives are enough for them.  But still, I disregarded it.

After I graduated in high school my father asked me if I wanted to become an educator. I said no. Not in my dreams and never!  Then my father simply agreed.

But I was really born to be a teacher, I supposed.  Turmoil hit my family that time. It collapses our finances. My dream of becoming someone else’ gone.

Then I decided to pursue this course. Sincerely, I hated it at first. But I learned to love it as time passes by. My anticipation changes when I entered unto this arena. I realized that being a teacher has helped me grow personally more patient, considerate, kind and understanding. It fostered my ability to learn and develop, to embrace learning as a tool for success and to keep abreast on the many changes.

I realized that the responsibilities are beyond compare. The rewards are not monetary, but seeing the joy on the face of a child who has succeeded at something he struggles to accomplish is a huge compensation for us.

Now I understand my father. Thus if ever he ask me again, I will answer him without hesitation.  I most certainly go to teaching again if I had to do it all over again.

own's choice

You can never actually please everybody despite all the effort you’ve done. They will look at your flaws; make you the laughing stack and the hub for gossip. I couldn’t understand why some people better talked others life. Why wasting their valuable time on twaddle.

The work of a teacher is not confined with its student alone, but also their colleagues just like any other job. Later this morning my friend told me a rumor [which is true] about my attitude toward my new officemate. They are telling that I am aloof and distant to them. I must say I agreed. But I think there’s nothing wrong with that. It’s not because I don’t like them, it’s just that I don’t consider it. I don’t want to append myself and befriended with them. And after sometimes, they will encroach on your private life and decision.

Thus it’s better to keep distant and quiet at times.  Your life becomes quieter because of these. Mind you I’ve been there.

a good person

When you are always watching news you’ll get depressed on what’s happening around us. Majority are about crimes, corruptions, accidents, and the likes. It’s so saddening that they rarely broadcast good news even, how small and big it is. I really believe that many are still chivalrous. That willing to help someone who’s in need of help even though they didn’t seems familiar.

The other day I went to a mall to buy some office supply. I was looking for a cart but couldn’t find any. Then decide to continue buying without it. I haven’t perceived that the list in my hand was too many and heavy. Since I was already there, I still continue grabbing all the things I need. I just stack it on my other hand to save space.

Then suddenly I saw one [cart] but then someone grabbed it and put their things on. But when they saw me, it’s like they alter their mind and give it to me. I know in their silence that they want me to have it. And in returned I thank them.

oust TB

Yesterday when I am checking the attendance I noticed that one of my student was  absent for almost 11 consecutive days. Thinking of planning to visit and check his status, lucky his mother came to talk and excuse him  for now and the coming days. I found out that he is suffering from TB and asking for consideration with the matter which I fully agreed without hesitation.

To enlighten us about tuberculosis (TB), I made a research on it. And here what I've found.

M. tuberculosis bacterial colonies

OVERVIEW:

Tuberculosis or TB (short for tubercles bacillus) describes an infectious and deadly disease caused by various strain of mycobacteria, usually mycobacterium tuberculosis in humans and mycobacterium bovis. Usually attacks the lungs and can affect other parts of the body (Wikipedia).
This infectious disease has plague human since the Neolithic time. Physicians in Greece called this illness “phthisis” to reflect its wasting character. During 17th and 18th centuries, TB caused up to 25% of all death in Europe. In more recent times tuberculosis has been called “consumption”.
Robert Koch isolated the tubercle bacillus in 1882 and established TB as an infectious disease.
In 19th century, patients were been isolated. During the haft of the 20th century, no treatment was still available, until 1952 when medication introduced (Heath Encyclopedia).
WHO estimated that one-third of the global population was infected with TB bacteria in 2008 and continues to be a major problem.
In the Philippines alone according to the Philippine Tuberculosis Society that 75 Filipinos still die every day because of it.

CAUSES:

Today TB tends to be concentrated among inner city dwellers, ethnic minorities and recent immigrants from area of the world where the disease is still common. The following are the causes of TB:
·         Are passed from person to person via droplets. When someone with TB infections coughs, sneezes or talk a tiny droplets of saliva or mucus are expelled into the air, which can be inhaled by another person.
·         HIV infection
·         Low socioeconomic status
·         Alcoholism
·         Homelessness
·         Crowded leaving condition
·         Diseases that weaken the immune system
·         Migration from a country with a high number of cases
·         And health-care workers

SYMPTOMS:

About 10% of those infected with TB develop the disease.
·         The first symptoms of an active case of TB may be so commonplace that they are often dismissed as the effect of cold or flu.
·         The individual may get tired easily, feel slightly feverish or cough frequently.
·         Feel a sharp pain in the chest when breathing deeply or coughing.
·         Spitting of blood
·         Weight loss
·         Loss of appetite
·         And night sweets

TREATMENT:

With treatment, the chance of full recovery is good. Although several treatment protocols for active TB are wide use by specialist, and protocols sometimes changes due to advanced in our understanding of optimal therapy, they generally share three principles:
·         The regimen must include several drugs to which the organisms are susceptible.
·         The patient must take the medication on a regular basis.
·         Therapy must continue for a sufficient time.

The most important of all, is always take good care of ourselves. As an old saying goes, prevention is always better than cure.

survivor

Some people don’t realize that in suffering there is a great potential for you to succeed. Deprivation of anything you wanted is an opportunity in disguise. This helps you to strive more and get what you wanted in the end.

A while ago, our topic is on the precious possessions they have and the feeling of owning it. I got a chance to talk to my student up close and personal [feeling an award winning host]. They bragged on every little gadget they have personally or even on their home.

All are so happy anticipating on what other may share and admired with an eye wide open.

Because everyone’s so busy even I am that haven’t even notice this particular timid little girl sitting at the corner. I told her to participate and join us in our discussion. Giving her a chance to answer just like everyone else, I asked of her greatest possession, and she said nothing without hesitation.

Almost of her classmate laugh that echoed on four corners of the room. She sat like a burnt candle and a defeated warrior.

Stunned of her answer and I couldn’t utter any words just to let her explain why.

She stood proudly, started clearing her voice and reasoned that she is still determined to do all the best she can. Deprivation is not a hindrance to realize our dreams. It is only a trial to overcome by setting our mind in the right direction ‘coz in the end, the only way to survived is to excel.

life in a circus

Life of a teacher is like a life in a circus. One must be a multi-faceted because your work is not only concentrated to teaching.

Sometimes you should be a clown to cheer them up especially when they are down and weary. We need to learn new tricks to get their attention like clowns usually do. You can never have a good discipline unless you have a good start.

Sometimes you should be a spectator to praise their work for them to feel their act is amazing even though it wasn’t good enough. Laugh at it when needed.

Sometimes we have to wear a mask and have a poker face where you hide your emotion. Personal problem must not be reflected to our faces and not be brought in accordance with the work. If not, the show will be much affected. And the result, they will go home disappointed.

We must plan our acts and make it a perfect presentation. Smile’s painted in their faces as they leave. Fulfillment sees though their bones. Knowledge stayed long enough.

We must give the most of us, just like what there are expecting us to do. Anyway, it our business and it meant a lot to us.

Thus, I must agree that teaching is the noblest profession.

easier way to study

While I was walking at the corridor of my university there something caught my attention that was been posted on the bulletin board of the pre-medical society. I got it to share it with you. Its about HOW TO STUDY EFFECTIVELY. I will only give you 8 concentration strategies on how to do it. This might help you make your studies a lot easier.

                                 EAT FREQUENT SMALL AMOUNT
Avoid eating a big meal before a study session . Too much food will send your body into a "rest" mode. On the other hand, don't starve yourself either. Frequent small amount of meal are best.

        STUDY WHEN YOU'RE SHARPEST

Study according to your body-clock. Are you sharpest in the morning or at the evening. Schedule your most difficult materials when you are mentally at your best, and schedule the easier one when you are mentally less difficult.

        DRINK WATER OFTEN
Drink plenty of water during a study session, especially when you are sluggish. Caffeine may also help you to stay awake, but it can increase your anxiety-use it in moderation.

DON'T GET TOO COMFORTABLE
Choose a chair that support your back. It should be comfortable, but not too comfortable. Just like an athletes during a performance, your body should be relaxed so that your energy goes to where it matters-your brain.

TAKE A BREAK EVERY HOUR
It is important to take a break before you feel tire and lose your concentration completely. Regular break at least one an hour helps you to sustain your concentration. If work is not going to well and you have difficulties in concentrating, you may need a long break and go back to it later.
STRETCH YOUR BREAKS
Know and respect your concentration span which will vary from hour to hour and from day to day. When you sit for long periods, gravity drains your blood to lower part of your body. When you take a break, take a few deep breath and get more oxygen to your brain. Try walking around and do some light stretching for a few minutes. It will help ease the tension in your body, and circulation.
CLEAR YOUR DESK OF EVERYTHING YOU DON'T NEED
Have everything you need on the desk. Put away what you don't need for the study session. Seeing reminders of others assessment or domestic bills may increase your anxiety and distract you.

STUDY AT THE SAME TIME, SAME PLACE
Study at the same time and at the same place devoted to study only. This help you to associate the time and place with studying and concentrating. You will find that you get into a habit of studying as soon as you sit down.

sleepless night

I woke up early this morning. I don’t know why. But I felt dizzy due to lack of sleep. Sometimes I am like this. Maybe because I am suffering from insomnia or I am just thinking of many.
This is also sometimes good for me [not the dizziness okay] because I can witness the beauty of the morning. I can see the colors changes, the awakening of birds that sung melodiously and the noise of humans busily doing chores.
You can also actually see the rising of the sun. Those things are the proof of God’s love for us. This is also the time for us to meditate and thank Him for a new day given to us. Plan our work and activities for our self and love ones.. Actually
I am not an early riser. Sometimes I woke up late in the morning especially during non-working days thus misses those wonderful phenomena.

lazy student

Tgif [thanks God its Friday]… meaning I don’t have to go to school. It’s a day rest for the teacher. But, not me! Actually I still need to go there… not to teach but to study. [F. Y. I.] I am still attending lesson on my masters. To tell you the truth I have an exam tomorrow at my bioethics subject. This is our first examination for this semester. I haven’t read my lesson and yet here I am, typing this story for you…[anyway I like this better than the first] (whisper).  I will study later in the morning. For me it’s better to do it at dawn when you are fully rested and fully charge plus the silence of the surrounding. Presto! You can easily understand it than at night when you are already tire. I bet I am correct.
Hope to get a high grade

real shout out

It was been days before I opened again my Facebook. I am so busy these past few days accomplishing reports and some important documents that our bosses badly needed. Actually, they are rushing us to submit those for our evaluation. The regional supervisors will visit our school to conduct inspection and observation this coming day.
While I am browsing it (Facebook) I saw this particular shoutout from Mr. Edwin. He is my officemate and a very good friend (but don’t tell him that…it’s our secret, okay?) Want to know his shoutout was?  Well, according to him we should do all the things we want coz we never know when our time will come….and he was so happy doing those things even though he felt tired. Yes he is absolutely right.
While I am reading it (shoutout) a thought suddenly came to my mind that I must needed to show (‘coz I am not that showy) my love and affection to others especially to my love ones. I shall never give then heartache. I should always think them in all my actions and all my decision ‘coz a part of me belongs to them. Hugging, smiling, thanking and telling how much we love them are only a simple gesture of love that we must do often. We must give them the best of us, ‘coz no matter what happened at least they’ll be reminded of our mark.
Thanks to you my friend for reminding me once again.
